The first effect that drugs have caused on our planet is drug trafficking. One of the largest effects of drug trafficking is deforestation. Amazon is a good example of a forest that has been greatly affected by deforestation as a result of drug trafficking. The environment is also affected greatly when there is a refinement of drugs which creates a lot of waste. For example cocaine needs a lot of energy to be refined. Since most of this energy is got from trees, deforestation and pollution occurs more often. To be able to curb this problem the government needs to develop policies restricting drug trafficking. They should also unite with international drug control agencies to ensure that drugs are not traded in our countries. By so doing we will be able to reduce the drug trade industry which will, in turn, reduce the number of trees being cut every day.
In most nations there has been a decline of public health due to drugs. Most pharmaceutical companies have played a huge role in promoting poor health among individuals. For instance, when medication is nor prescribed correctly most of the patients will not use the drugs. Individuals will have to get rid of the drugs by disposing of them. And because most of this patients don’t know the disposal methods that should be used they end up doing it in the wrong way. In order for us to solve this issue people need to be educated on the best ways to dispose of the drugs. This will help to reduce instances where people have to dispose of drugs in the wrong way.
Drugs have caused serious water pollution problems. People living nearby water sources have been known to pollute the water in many ways. Very few water sources lack chemical compounds channeled there by human beings. In order for this problem to cease there have to be strict guidelines as to how people living in near the water bodies will be disposing of their waste. With this we will be able to reduce the amount of waste that is entering our water sources.
